Mahamaya Girls' College Quiz Club
Popularizing Quizzing
as a Mind Sport
Founded in 2004, the Quiz Club of Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy, was established with the aim of fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a lasting passion for knowledge among students. Over the years, it has evolved from a small group of enthusiasts into one of Sri Lanka’s most formidable and recognized quizzing institutions, defined by consistency, discipline, and a strong competitive edge. In 2017, the club further expanded its reach with the launch of QUAERENTEM, its all-island inter-school quiz competition, attracting leading schools from across the island. Grounded in the belief that quizzing is not merely a competition but a discipline that sharpens the mind, the club continues to promote it as a legitimate and transformative intellectual pursuit, particularly empowering young women, while maintaining an outstanding record of achievements and accolades within the national quizzing circuit.

To enhance general knowledge and to popularize quizzing as a mind sport among Mayans.
VISION
To create a talented group of students with vast knowledge in different areas. We also hope to mould students who can shoulder our school towards the top of the Sri Lankan quizzing arena.

aims to identify and recruit the most curious and capable minds in the school, providing a fair platform for students to showcase their awareness, analytical skills, and passion for learning

QUAERENTEM — from the Latin quaerere, meaning "to seek" — is the flagship inter-school quiz competition organized by the Mahamaya Girls' College Quiz Club. Since its launch in 2017, QUAERENTEM has grown into a premier intellectual arena, bringing together the most competitive and knowledgeable student teams from schools across Sri Lanka.
